A talk on 19 April – 7.00 pm at Limonaia Nardi, Via Tortona 30, Milano - FuoriSalone 2023

How can we most effectively design our outdoor spaces, whether large or small?

We will be discussing this at our FuoriSalone space with Diego Thomas, who will be the protagonist of the talk, emblematically entitled: La stanza in più: progettare terrazzi e giardini (The extra room: designing terraces and gardens).

Hosted by the journalist and author Antonella Galli, the evening will include advice and tips from a true expert in design and good taste in order to achieve “an extra room in the open air”, which is satisfying in both aesthetic and functional terms.

The protagonists

Diego Thomas is an architect who began his career designing large-scale works also at an international level. Over the years, his interests have broadened into related fields: the historical one (historical and archaeological research concerning 17th-century Rome for Roma Tre University); the artistic and museum field (co-editor of the book Futurismo 100 Illuminazioni​ edited by Mondadori, and curator for the M.A.R.T. in Trento); and the fashion field (working in the style office of Valentino Haute Couture), returning to architecture in its purest and most complete form. Nowadays, his studio mainly focuses on architectural, interior and furniture design. He takes part in various TV programmes and digital formats, and has a monthly column entitled Il parere dell'architetto (The architect’s opinion) in Marie Claire Maison. 

Antonella Galli is a journalist and author. For over twenty years, she has been working in and exploring the world of creativity and design. She is the author of the Arredo & Design pages for Il Sole 24 Ore and writes about architecture and design for trade publications. She has written and hosted four series on stories about Italy and the Italians for Rai Radio3. In March 2023, with Pierluigi Masini, she published the book I luoghi del design in Italia. Quattordici viaggi alle sorgenti del progetto (Places of design in Italy. Fourteen journeys to the source of the project), edited by Baldini+Castoldi.
